Thank you for your interest in Rebel Mountain Press. In addition to the current call out, we are also seeking:
children's picture books, middle grade, and young adult literature featuring characters who are Indigenous or BIPOC, LGBTQ2+, and/or belongs to other marginalized groups. Stories with strong empowered female leads are especially encouraged, as are themes that explore social justice and awareness, equality, human and animal rights. High adventure stories are also accepted, as are those for reluctant readers.
submissions with themes of gender identity (ie: transgender, gender neutral, non-binary, agender, pangender, genderqueer, two-spirit, third gender, etc.) in children's picture book, middle grade, and young adult formats.
we may also consider insightful adult fiction or creative nonfiction, and poetry, particularly that which illuminates the lives of First Nations Peoples, BIPOC, and/or is LGBTQ2IA+ themed, and authored by those who identify as such.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: In addition to a manuscript sample (as per the categories listed below), please include a cover letter that explains what makes you the best person to tell this story, and a C.V. with your home mailing address, information about academic history, relevant work and previous publishing credits (where applicable). MIDDLE GRADE / YOUNG ADULT FICTION NOVELS
Manuscripts of young adult fiction should be approximately 30,000-60,000 words in length. Please include 3 sample chapters, plus a detailed synopsis.
Manuscripts for middle grade fiction should be approximately 25,000-40,000 words in length. Please include 3 sample chapters, plus a detailed synopsis.
Manuscripts for reluctant readers should be approximately 12,000-20,000 words in length, and written in simple language with a non-complex structure and a small cast of characters. Please include 3 sample chapters, plus a detailed synopsis.
ADULT FICTION / CREATIVE NONFICTION / POETRY

GRAPHIC NOVELS A future goal is to publish graphic novels via our imprint, Summit Comics Publishing. We are looking for stories with illustrations that will appeal to children or young adults, told in graphic novel format. (No manga or anime, please.) Submissions should include a cover letter, C.V., and the full manuscript with complete text and illustrations. Send submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
